ChameleonTom Toolbar Removal / Uninstall

Now, its time to help those computers which are struggling to remove another toolbar, called Chameleon. As mentioned in a previous post about removing SweetIM toolbar, now it is time to attack "ChameleonTom.toolbar".

The reason why you should remove this is really important! This toolbar automatically tries to get information like name and phone numbers of the user and forwards it to third party named Smiley media. So if you're infected by this, do make sure you remove it. It installs without informing you and installs another thing called FlvTube.Toolbar with it.


Now lets start with the removal process.

Use Windows Explorer to go to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\ChameleonTom". Now, delete the following files inside it:

about.gif
ct.htm
hoticon.ico
menu_en.htm
menu_ru.htm
UninstallChamTom.exe
wit4ie.dll
witapi.js
witmain.js
Chameleon Tom Web Site.url
Uninstall Chameleon Tom.lnk




Make sure you delete the "ChameleonTom" folder.

Now, run regedit.exe in Windows and remove all registry entries related to the toolbar. Delete the folliwing entries:

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "wit4ie.WitBHO.1", plus associated values.

• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "wit4ie.WitBHO", plus associated values.

• "{14CD42DD-ABCD-3586-DCAB-40E3693E3737}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions\"

• "{20EDC024-43C5-423E-B7F5-FD93523E0D9F}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\"

• "{75ED56AF-4DC9-4243-A30C-4EF4DD0CA28F}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\"

• "{75ED56AF-4DC9-4243-A30C-4EF4DD0CA28F}" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\"

• "{75ED56AF-4DC9-4243-A30C-4EF4DD0CA28F}" at"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\"

Finally, I would like to recommend a software called Spybot-S&D which is free, and helps you to keep your computer clean of such things. You can download it from their official page here.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 vs Galaxy Note 1 : The War of Phablets

Today, I'm in a review mode about the latest "phablet" launch of Galaxy Note II N7100 by Samsung. After having lost to Apple's infringement case, Samsung seems to answer everyone with its own amazing phones! We are excited to see what more it has to offer!

Now talking turkey, the Samsung Galaxy Note II or 2, is the successor to Note 1 which was launched in 2011.These smartphones are called "phablets" because they don't look like normal phone, and also they're not so huge to be called a tablet. As you might have guessed, the reason is their size is in between that of a phone and a tablet, thus creating a new category of smartphones for those who love big screens, but don't have that big pockets to keep tablets!

With Samsung Galaxy Note series, the trouble to have a "big pocket" ends! The Note series phablets are easy to fit in your pockets, and they offer everything that a tablet can offer. Powered by Android Operating System, these are customizable, powerful and thus, highly useful devices.

Now, its time to help you decide if you should upgrade to the Note 2 in case you already own Note 1, or if you should directly buy Note 2 or 1, considering the price difference between both. As of now, Galaxy Note 1 is priced at around Rs 30,000 (INR), and Note 2 is at Rs 39,900 (INR). So its really important if that extra cash you will be spending for Note 2 is worth it or not.

Lets talk about different features now.

Dimensions and Design

Galaxy Note II is more elongated and a bit narrower than the original one. Physical dimensions of Note 2 is 151.1 mm x 80.5 mm x 9.4 mm. Although, it is not much greater difference in size between two, as you can see in these photos.

The Galaxy Note 2 features 0.2 inch larger screen than its predecessor.

The 2GB RAM in Note 2 from 1GB of Note 1, is really an important addition according to me as it will enable the Note 2 to be eligible to receive updates to latest Android versions in future too. This is because there is high probability that other phones from a year now, will have 2GB RAM as a general benchmark, and it might result in making your older Note 1 stick to some older version of Android in case it doesn't get eligible to receive updates in future. Although, it is not gonna happen at least in next 2 years I hope.

The S-pen feature of Galaxy Note series has also got updated in Note 2 and is now easier to grip and longer, just to give users the right hold over writing. Other new features of Note 2 over Note 1 include S-Pen Quick Commands, improvement in Hand Writing capture, and a feature which alerts you whenever S-pen is not in the holster of the phone, thus helping you not to lose it.

Conclusion

I would say you should go for the Note 2 if you want to have better hardware than Note 1. Otherwise, Note 1 also makes up a great choice actually even though it is not the latest. In case you already own Galaxy Note 1, I will suggest you to wait for Note 3 or 4, as that might be a better option than to pay more money today on Note 2 for better hardwares.

P.S. : As I don't own any Note till now, I am going for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 soon. Will update this post after getting my hands on it. :)

The Launch of DreamingKnights.com : My First Step in Entrepreneurship

After thinking about various plans of starting a startup, I just thought of starting a Web Designing and Development company first, as it will give a great exposure, help to build an awesome team, and will give me some experience about how businesses are run. Thinking about this, I recently started DreamingKnights.com (www.dreamingknights.com) with a friend. Yesterday, I had launched its website too :)

About the launching of website, the 5 days of continuous hard work along with mild fever which stayed for 2 days, will be a memorable milestone for me, as it made me step into the business world. It will be an enjoyable (i'm being positive :P ) thing to go to college for about 11hours, and then work on this business of ours. Excitement and the will to do something different and unique in life is what keeps me happy with this venture of ours.

I have even made some future plans for our DreamingKnights.com. Instead of Web development and designing, SEO and all other related services, DreamingKnights.com can also launch its own web products! To start with, simply, this could be the engine behind a startup company launched by team (or Knights) DreamingKnights.com and I can bet, it will be an awesome startup!!! Because the team will be a talented one, and so will be the product.! Mobile apps, web based startups like a social network or something useful, and many other options can be out from DreamingKnights.com Labs in future. If any Web Developer/ Web Designer / Graphics Designer out there is reading this post and you're interested in joining a team which wants to change the WWW, we should definitely talk soon!! :)

Troubleshoot ADT Plugin Installation in Eclipse IDE for Android App / Application Development

I was just setting up my Windows 7 32-bit computer for developing android apps for the first time today and  successfully installed SDK for Android for Windows from here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

The second step was to install ADT plug-in for Eclipse IDE which makes it really easier to develop apps in Eclipse. I was using Eclipse Galileo. Now while performing this step, I was encountering some errors like this:
"Can not complete the install because one or more required items could not be found."

After googling a bit, I found out that I need to install Google Plug-in for Eclipse Galileo before I can install the ADT plug-in for Android.

But again, Google plug-in could not be installed due to the same error. So I found out that I need to install another Software in Eclipse called "WST Server Adapters" and only after that Google plugins and ADT plugin can be installed.

And now, installation of Android has been successful.

After installing SDK, perform these steps to install WST Server Adapters in Eclipse Galileo:

• In Eclipse under Help, select Install New Software.
• In "Work with", select the option mentioning Galileo and under it go to Web services. There you can find "WST Server Adaptors". 
• Choose “WST Server Adapters”, download and install it.
• Restart Eclipse.

Install Google plugin for Eclipse Galileo using this link: https://developers.google.com/eclipse/docs/install-eclipse-3.5?hl=sv-SE

After this, install ADT plug-in using the instructions on Android's official page nad you'll be done.
